A South African helped by CleanCredit with debt review removal assistance

While a debt review flag is on your record, you cannot take on new credit — it is prohibited under Section 88 of the NCA. So once you qualify to exit, removing that flag correctly matters. There are lawful routes: a clearance certificate once your plan is settled, or a court application to exit early if you are no longer over-indebted.

We make sure the right route is followed for your situation, the clearance certificate is obtained, and the flag is cleared at the NCR and every bureau. Where a court exit is needed, we work with qualified attorneys.

What debt review removal assistance includes

The service covers

  • Confirming which lawful exit route applies to you
  • Obtaining the clearance certificate from a registered debt counsellor
  • Ensuring the NCR Debt Help System is updated
  • Clearing the flag at every credit bureau
  • A court exit through qualified attorneys where required

How it works

  1. Free review of your debt review status and options.
  2. We confirm the correct lawful route for your situation.
  3. We obtain the clearance certificate or lodge the court exit.
  4. We confirm the flag is cleared at the NCR and all bureaus.

Who it’s for

For anyone who has settled the debts under their review (a home loan may be excluded if up to date), or whose circumstances have improved so they are no longer over-indebted, and who wants the flag removed the lawful way — not through a risky “instant removal” shortcut.

Frequently asked questions

Once your plan is settled, a registered debt counsellor issues a clearance certificate, which is submitted to the bureaus. If a court order is in place and you are no longer over-indebted, an early court exit is the route.
After the clearance certificate is issued, the flag is usually removed within 7 to 21 business days. A court exit takes longer.
No — under Section 88 of the NCA you may not take on new credit while the flag is in place.
Be very cautious. Illegal removals can create fraudulent court orders and leave you worse off. Removal must go through the correct, registered process.
